Description

An unsanctioned marine event is planned for the St. Clair River beginning at 161700 UTC Aug 2026. In the interest of safety, no unauthorized vessels will be permitted in the St. Clair River from the Bluewater Bridge to the upper end of Stag Island during this time. All vessels seeking to manoeuvre within these waters must obtain authorization from the port official prior to entering Canadian waters in the area bounded by Bluewater Bridge to the north, the upper end of Stag Island to the south and the international border to the west.

For urgent vessel transit authorizations on the day of the event only, please contact Sarnia MCTS on VHF channel 16 or at 1-519-337-6221.

The United States Coast Guard has established a temporary safety zone commencing at Lighthouse Beach, Lake Huron and encompassing all U.S. waters to a point on land just north of Stag Island. The safety zone will be in effect from 161600 UTC Aug 2026 until 162200 UTC Aug 2026. The mouth of the Black River, where it enters into the St. Clair River, will be closed to vessel traffic. Entry into, transiting or anchoring within the U.S. safety zone is prohibited unless authorized by the United States Coast Guard Patrol Commander, station Port Huron, which may be contacted on VHF channel 16.

Adjust timing of transit to avoid entering the safety zone during this event.
